LG’s New M-Series Wireless OLED TVs Debut in US with Prices Up to $30,000
LG is set to release its latest M-Series wireless OLED TVs in the United States, and they come with a hefty price tag. The M-Series is a wireless version of LG’s popular gallery series G3 OLED TV, offering a clean and wire-free installation experience.
The M-Series will be available in three sizes for the M3 OLED model, ranging from 77 to 97 inches. While the exact availability dates have not been announced yet, LG has shared that orders are expected to open in late August 2023.
The pricing for the M-Series OLED TVs starts at $5,000 for the 77-inch model, goes up to $8,000 for the 83-inch model, and reaches a staggering $30,000 for the 97-inch model. These prices may seem steep, but they are on par with the premium nature of LG’s Gallery Series G3 OLED TVs. The 77-inch G3 OLED has a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $4,500.
However, it’s worth noting that street prices are typically lower than the MSRP, so there may be some savings for those who opt for the M-Series. Moreover, considering the additional cost associated with professional installation and wire concealment, the premium for LG’s wireless signal transmission technology may even out in terms of the overall installation expenses.
The M-Series utilizes LG’s Zero Connect box, which allows up to three devices to be connected via HDMI. The Zero Connect box processes the video signal using LG’s a9 Gen6 AI processor and wirelessly delivers the processed picture signal to the TV panel. This setup eliminates the need for visible wires and simplifies installation.
LG’s M-Series TVs transmit the signal wirelessly using the 60 GHz frequency band, minimizing potential interference from other wireless devices in the home. The Zero Connect box offers a range of up to 30 feet, but it requires line-of-sight to function optimally.
It’s important to mention that only the 77-inch M-Series model will feature LG’s new MLA technology, which offers higher brightness compared to LG’s other OLED TVs. The 83-inch and 97-inch M-Series models, similar to their G3 OLED counterparts, do not have MLA tech. However, the larger screen sizes naturally generate more light, reducing the need for a super-bright screen.
In an upcoming review, Digital Trends will provide a full evaluation of the M-Series OLED TV. Meanwhile, wireless TV technology continues to evolve, and LG’s M-Series may offer a glimpse into the wire-free future of home entertainment setups.
LG’s M-Series wireless OLED TVs are set to make a splash in the US market with their advanced features, wireless connectivity, and sleek design. While the prices may be steep, those looking for a cutting-edge entertainment experience may find the M-Series worth the investment. As with any new technology, it’s essential to consider individual preferences and budget when making a purchasing decision.
