Korean Companies Showcase Cutting-Edge Tech at CES 2024
The world’s largest consumer electronics and IT trade show, CES 2024, is set to open in Las Vegas next week, and Korean companies are taking center stage. Not only are home appliance giants Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics participating, but major Korean companies such as SK Group, Hyundai Motor, and Kia are also gearing up to showcase their cutting-edge technologies.
CES 2024, themed ALL ON, will focus on the advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) across various industries, including automotive, infrastructure, healthcare, and smart homes. Korean Information & Communication Technology Industry Association reveals that around 3,500 companies from 150 countries will participate in the event, including approximately 550 Korean companies.
Korea is the third-largest exhibitor at CES, following the United States and China. The annual trade show has become a platform for Korean companies to unveil their innovations and contribute to discussions on emerging technologies.
Samsung Electronics, known as the world’s largest mobile phone and memory chipmaker, will kick off CES 2024 with a press conference where it will present its vision for AI technologies. CEO and Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee will introduce the theme of AI for All: Connectivity in the Age of AI. This will be the first time that Samsung unveils its AI vision on a global scale.
As an example of its AI technology, Samsung will showcase its latest kitchen innovations at CES 2024. The 2024 Bespoke refrigerator and Anyplace Induction Cooktop will feature upgraded AI and connectivity technologies, aimed at creating an enhanced food and kitchen ecosystem.
Meanwhile, LG Electronics, expanding its business portfolio to include automotive electronics and air solutions, will introduce its new AI-powered technologies. CEO Cho Joo-wan, also known as William Cho, will host LG’s press conference titled Life’s Good: Reinvent your future. LG will showcase its Zero Labor Home vision, featuring a two-legged robot called Smart Home AI Agent that can perform various tasks and interact with humans. Additionally, LG will unveil a concept car, giving a glimpse into its next-generation mobility vision.
SK Group will have all seven of its major affiliates participating in CES 2024, including SK, SK hynix, SK Innovation, and SK Telecom. They will jointly run a pavilion, showcasing the group’s net-zero technologies and products. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience a net-zero world through a 1,850-square-meter showroom with interactive exhibits.
Hyundai Motor Group‘s Hyundai Motor and Kia will return to the CES stage after a hiatus. Hyundai will share its future blueprint for a hydrogen energy ecosystem and its vision for software and AI under the theme of Ease every way. The company will also introduce solutions to accelerate the transition to a hydrogen-led society. Kia, on the other hand, will unveil its new business strategies for purpose-built vehicles (PBVs) and display five concept cars.
In addition to these key players, other Korean companies will showcase state-of-the-art products, ranging from home appliances to wearable gadgets and self-driving vehicles. The participation of Korean companies reflects their commitment to innovation and their contribution to the global tech industry.
