Kerala to Launch Massive AI Training Program for 80,000 Teachers
In a groundbreaking move towards modernizing education, Kerala is all set to roll out a significant Artificial Intelligence (AI) training program for around 80,000 secondary school teachers. Conducted by the Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), this three-day training initiative is aimed at equipping teachers from Classes 8 to 12 with essential AI expertise.
This ambitious initiative, scheduled to kick off on May 2, is not only a major step towards integrating AI into the educational system but also sets a national precedent as the first of its kind in the country. The program aims to empower teachers with advanced AI skills by August 2024, promising a transformative impact on teaching practices and learning outcomes.
The AI training will focus on summarization techniques that simplify complex documents in PDFs, images, and videos to generate concise summaries while retaining crucial information and even creating new content using AI tools. Teachers will also be trained in Prompt Engineering and Machine Learning to craft effective prompts tailored to specific subjects and maximize the utility of AI tools.
Moreover, the training will cover AI-driven assessment techniques through data visualization, enabling teachers to design diverse question formats and optimize the assessment process. The program also aims to foster a culture of responsible AI usage by helping teachers identify potential risks associated with AI and understand concepts such as deep fakes, privacy concerns, and algorithm bias.
With a focus on personalized and inclusive learning, the training seeks to enable teachers to adapt resources for students with disabilities and individualize learning activities. The program has been meticulously prepared with the help of 180 Master Trainers from KITE, who have completed comprehensive one-month AI training to ensure its success.
Through hands-on training, data privacy measures, and a focus on personalized learning, Kerala’s AI training program is poised to revolutionize teaching methodologies and enhance learning outcomes across diverse student populations. By setting a benchmark in AI-driven education, Kerala is paving the way for a brighter and more inclusive future for its students.
