Kaiser Permanente, a health system based in Oakland, California, has set down a new grant program centered on AI and machine learning to improve diagnoses and patient outcomes. This program, known as AIM-HI (Augmented Intelligence in Medicine and Healthcare Initiative), will distribute up to $750,000 across three to five organizations. Applications for the program are due by June 30 and will be carefully evaluated by an esteemed advisory board of experts from Kaiser Permanente.
The goal of this new initiative is to use artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance medical practices and patient experiences. The program will also help establish best practices and improve capacities for the application of AI and machine learning in a variety of healthcare settings.
Head of the AIM-HI program, Vincent Liu, MD, expressed the immense potential of this program by saying: “We’re aiming to cut through the buzz around AI in health care to prove the promise and positive impact of this exciting technology for improving patient outcomes.”
The Permanente Medical Group is the foundation for APM and its philosophy of improving medical knowledge, patient care, and life.
