JioCinema: Will Subscription Plans Be Introduced After IPL 2023? Check Possible Prices

Date:

JioCinema, a streaming platform, has quickly grown in popularity since its launch in 2016. It recently became the official broadcaster of Fifa World Cup 2022 and is currently streaming the Tata IPL 2023. This content has been freely available to Jio users, however, the platform may soon introduce subscription plans. It is reported that JioCinema is set to debut its paid subscription after the end of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Reports mention that JioCinema will offer three subscription plans, Daily, Gold and Platinum. These will be budget friendly, coming with a daily plan charging Rs 2 per day, the gold plan will cost Rs 299 and the annual Platinum plan Rs 1,199. The Platinum plan could enjoy four devices support and ad-free experience. JioCinema has also unveiled a test website, which seems to confirm the introduction of the subscription plans.

The content addition may roll-out before the conclusion of the IPL series, as mentioned by JioCinema’s media and content business president Jyoti Deshpande. Deshpande also noted that the tariffs will be kept simple for the customers. The platform has recorded 5.5 billion unique video views in the first week of the IPL and set a record 22 million concurrent viewers on April 12.

JioCinema is owned by Reliance, is an Indian conglomerate headquartered in Mumbai, Maharashtra and is owned by Ambani family. Jyoti Deshpande was appointed President of Media & Distribution at Reliance Industries in 2006 and has since then been driving the growth of dependable content channels. Deshpande is credited for optimizing the cost structure in film, content and digital businesses and transforming Reliance from a domestic producer to one of the largest media, e-commerce and digital media businesses in India.
