The company underwent a finance tech transformation with the help of a machine-learning model that provides forecast suggestions based on guest count and seasonal trends, using historical and weather data. The model is integrated into the platform provided by Workday, allowing the FP&A team to attain forecasts within minutes instead of undergoing a four-month exercise to pass spreadsheets back and forth. The company’s SVP of finance, analytics, and supply chain says that FP&A professionals need to be trained a little more technically as they are expected to play a big role as data scientists in the CFO’s office.
