JavaGPT Supporting Older Versions of Windows with ChatGPT

Date:

JavaGPT is an open-source chatbot application, developed to bring the latest chatbot technology to even the oldest of operating systems. The project, provided by OpenAI, makes use of a Java GUI, with the goal being to work not just with the newer Windows versions, but also for those as old as Windows 98. And its inclusion of GPT-4 and GPT-3 Turbo modules make it one of the most versatile solutions on the market.

To make sure the program ran flawlessly on these older systems, original developer opted not to include Windows 95. According to Reddit user atomic1fire, running a Java-based program on Windows 95 would be impossible – at least without obtaining the obsolete Java 8 software.

Despite the excluded OS, JavaGPT still functions on a variety of operating systems, ranging from Windows 98 to 11, making it a viable choice for most people out there. The project is available for free for anyone that wishes to give it a try, as its provided through GitHub.

The OpenAI team behind JavaGPT is responsible for some of the leading chatbots of the past few years. Their approach to utilizing the GPT-4 and GPT-3 Turbo models is transparent and aimed at providing users with helpful and practical answers. Additionally, they believe that the use of Java applications can help more developers join the AI field.
