IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw’s Big News on Conversational AI Tool

Date:

India’s newly appointed IT minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who spoke at the India Global Forum event, hinted at a “big announcement” in the coming weeks, with regard to conversational AI tools. While declining to provide further details, Vaishnaw insisted that Parliament is in session, and hence can’t offer any more information for the time being.

The AI chatbot industry has grown steadily in recent months, especially after the launch of the industry-leading AI ChatGPT tool. Created by San Francisco-based artificial intelligence company OpenAI, the AI chatbot has created quite a stir in the industry with its impressive conversational skills. It is made to provide succinct answers when asked questions, as well as generate scripts, papers, lyrics, essays and other content as per the user’s needs and requests.

Recently, Chinese search engine Baidu also joined the AI chatbot race and launched its own AI-powered chatbot, Ernie. Ernie features a wide range of functionalities, such as summarizing financial statements, creating powerpoint presentations, generating images with text prompts, composing poetry, and producing audio in Chinese accents.

For those looking to benefit from AI-enabled technology, and creating AI chatbot tools, Baidu and OpenAI have set a high standard. But with the Indian government promising a big announcement in a few weeks, it could be time for a new AI chatbot to take the crown. Whether the announcement hints towards the creation of a new chatbot tool in Indian or the origination of a new knowledge-sharing platform, it would surely mark a significant milestone in India’s conversation AI industry.
