Is the RTX 4060 Ti Affordable or is it Lacking Value?

Date:

Nvidia recently released their RTX 4070 but rumors about the impending RTX 4060 Ti have been gaining traction. It has been reported that the GPU will be available for a May release and that it could be advertised at a much lower price of $450. This is $150 less than the cost of the RTX 4070 and $50 more than the RTX 3070. Nvidia’s pricing strategy suggest this will still be a budget card, however the technical specifications are suggesting that its value may not be all that appealing.

This latest GPU is said to be fit with the same 5nm AD106 GPU as the laptop RTX 4070 although the core configuration has been slightly tweaked. It is rumored to contain 4,352 CUDA cores instead of the 4,608 found on the laptop version. The clock speeds will stay around the 2,535MHz mark. This will still be more than enough to power many games at 1080p, however the 8GB of memory across a 128-bit bus might be a clog in the machine compared to other top graphics cards.

To use the previous generation for comparison again, the RTX 3070 cost $400 when it was released and the new RTX 4060 Ti is expensive by comparison. Of course, that card is no longer available to purchase so if you are looking for a budget GPU then this could be your best option. For instance, AMD’s RTX 6700 XT is around $370 on the market and while it may not have some of the more advanced features of Nvidia’s range, there is always a great value to be found with AMD.

Ultimately, the RTX 4060 Ti looks like it will be a good budget option for those looking for flashy graphics at an affordable price. But with the RTX 4070 still on the shelves and AMD’s RX 6700 XT offering a competent option for gamers, it is hard to say how much value is really contained in this card. If it does launch at the rumored $450 price tag, it may still be worth the investment, but it won’t be a bargain compared to the rest of the market.

Nvidia is one of the leading makers of graphics processing units (GPUs), based in Santa Clara, California. They are the creators of the GPU and manufacture a line of GPUs known as the RTX series which includes the RTX 4060 Ti. Their GPUs have been around since the late 90s and their products remain some of the best options for gamers and professionals in need of reliable graphics processing technologies.
