Iran’s Information Technology Organization recently announced that artificial intelligence (AI) has played a crucial role in identifying over 40,000 instances of unauthorized land use change in the country. This innovative technology has proven to be a valuable tool in monitoring and detecting illegal activities related to land use.
The AI-assisted system efficiently examines satellite images, comparing them before and after any alterations in land use. This detailed analysis has led to the detection of more than 40,000 cases of unauthorized land use changes throughout Iran. As a result of these efforts, approximately 20,000 hectares of land have been safeguarded.
By employing AI algorithms developed by domestic knowledge-based companies, the accuracy of identifying violations has significantly improved by 45%. This technological advancement has enabled authorities to take proactive measures against unauthorized land use, ultimately preserving valuable land resources across the country.
In another significant development, the Iranian Space Agency revealed that the Khayyam satellite has been instrumental in conducting remote sensing activities to monitor and map land use changes. Collaborating with the Information Technology Organization, the Space Agency is actively involved in legal procedures to provide satellite images for judicial authorities combating land expropriation.
The effective utilization of artificial intelligence in identifying unauthorized land use changes reflects Iran’s commitment to enhancing monitoring capabilities and enforcing regulations to protect valuable land resources. This innovative approach underscores the country’s dedication to combating illegal activities and ensuring sustainable land management practices for future generations.
Through the strategic integration of AI technology and satellite imagery, Iran is making significant strides in addressing unauthorized land use changes and safeguarding its natural assets. The synergy between technology and regulatory efforts highlights the importance of leveraging innovative solutions to address environmental challenges and promote responsible land management practices.
