Apple is set to unleash its latest flagship smartphone series, the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. According to an anonymous source, these next-generation iPhones will feature a new power-off and force restart button combination. On the current iPhone 14 model, power off is activated by pressing the Side button and both the volume up and down buttons at the same time. The upcoming iPhones will forego this process in favor of an ‘Action’ button, which we believe is customizable.
This Action button will take the place of the volume up button when it comes to powering down the device or performing a force restart. The leaker, who calls themselves @analyst941 on Twitter, claims that the “volume up and power button will no longer be used to power off the device, or ‘force-restart’ it. The sequence remains, but the combination will be changed to action and power button.”
In a follow-up tweet, the leaker also mentioned that the Action button would act as a replacement for the volume up button used as a shutter to take photos. It will be force-sensitive and allow users to either auto-focus a picture, take a photo, or record a video with a light, hard, or long press.
It has to be noted with a pinch of salt that the second claim about force-sensitive functions could prove to be wrong. It has been revealed that Apple encountered some technical challenges while including capacitive buttons on the upcoming iPhones and are likely to delay them to a latter version. However, this was met with the response from the leaker that solid-state buttons are still a part of iPhone 15 Pro.
Concerning the volume button, Apple intended to unify it using solid-state technology, but that plan has been given up due to the delay in solid-state buttons.
All in all, we have a dedicated iPhone 15 Pro roundup comprising of every detail learned about these smartphones prior to their launch. Furthermore, there is a separate iPhone 15 exclusive roundup that highlights the differences between the Pro and non-Pro models.
