This could make the voice assistant appear less intrusive.
Furthermore, current rumors state that iOS 17 could make activating Siri much easier – instead of saying “Hey Siri”, users may simply require to say “Siri”. This would be similar to Amazon’s Alexa, which works this way since its launch in 2014. Implementing this change could be a complex task, as it involves the AI understanding the singular phrase in multiple accents and dialects.
iOS 17 is expected to be presented at the annual WWDC Developer Conference come June, with the full release planned to be out at some point this September. As for what devices will be compatible with iOS 17, there are still conflicting reports on this subject: one source suggests that it will support all iPhones running iOS 16, while another claims that some older models – iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X – will be excluded.
