Educators now have a brand new option when it comes to creating micro-learning lesson packages for their students. French startup Nolej will officially unveil their OpenAI-based instructional design generator, Nolej AI, on March 30 at BETT in London. The commercial launch of the platform is set for the ASU+GSV Summit in April, and educators can access a free trial version of Nolej AI now.
Nolej AI allows a user to input any type of static content, such as video, audio, text documents, or a website URL, and generate a custom interactive lesson package. It includes a transcript, summaries, a glossary of terms, flashcards, and quizzes all based off the uploaded content. Furthermore, users can also create brand-new interactive videos that teach the content they uploaded. In addition, the platform is designed to match the grade-level language of the uploaded static content.
Once the lesson package is created, it can be used in several ways. It can be pushed to Google Classroom, or downloaded in SCORM or HTML5 code to put on the user’s or organization’s website. The package can also be embedded into most website platforms, or the user can provide a link for students to complete the assignment on a web browser.
Nolej AI was tested beta-tested with thousands of educators, who saw completion rate of assignments increase by up to 85%, and an impressive 75% increase in student retention. After the commercial launch on April 19, Nolej will also be providing demos and webinars to help educators make the most out of the platform, as well as providing additional integrations via plug-ins in the most widely used LMS platforms.
The open-source platform is currently available to everyone with a free trial version. It provides five free packages and has subscription levels with varying credits and prices, depending on how many lesson packages the user needs. After the commercial launch, additional tiers will become available.
Nolej was founded and is chaired by Vincent Favrat, who is currently working on the open-source platform alongside OpenAI, the developers of ChatGPT, DALL-E and other key generative AI tools. With the official introduction of Nolej AI, Favrat and his team are hoping to make educational technology even more accessible for all by providing a cost-effective and time-saving instructional design generator.
