EZ Newswire, a new PR tech company, just launched a product that gives businesses a cheap way to write and distribute press releases. With the help of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, users just need to input information about the company and the key details they want to cover, and the company’s own algorithm takes it from there. Revising and editing a press release can cost a small business thousands of dollars, making it virtually inaccessible for many. The company provides press releases for free, and makes money from the targeted distribution of these press releases, as well as analytics to track how many people actually read them.
2,500 companies have already trialled an early version of the product, including huge names like Alibaba and 3M. It has been met with positive reactions from the likes of Lesley Klein, Senior Vice President of strategy and brand marketing at Priceline, who noted that “By removing that exclusivity and building a product that any company can use, we’ll greatly expand that user set.”
EZ Newswire has raised $1.3 million in pre-seed funding and is planning to raise between $5 million to $10 million this summer. It was co-founded by Caitlin Kelly and Neel Shah, who both bring years of practical and operational communications experience to the company. In the future they hope to expand their network of publishing partners and continue making press releasing and distribution accessible to both big and small businesses.
