IMDA, Dell Technologies, and Equinix have formed a partnership in Singapore to drive green digital infrastructure and promote sustainability in the digital sector. The collaboration aims to reshape the design, deployment, and maintenance of digital infrastructure, with a focus on implementing sustainable digital solutions and green technology practices.
The three organizations, namely Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Dell Technologies, and Equinix, will work together to provide guidance and recommendations on sustainable deployment of digital infrastructure. They will also focus on optimizing integration and utilization between hardware and software interfaces.
As part of their efforts, the partnership will develop a comprehensive process to measure, capture, and audit sustainability improvements in terms of energy and carbon emission savings. This will enable the quantifiable impact of green practices to be evaluated.
Singapore’s Infocomm Media Development Authority has highlighted the importance of greening the ICT sector and is committed to promoting energy efficiency in data centers. In fact, earlier this year, Singapore launched a standard for optimizing energy efficiency in data centers located in tropical climates. Additionally, Singapore is the first country to join the Green Software Foundation and the European Green Digital Coalition, where best practices for green software and green digital solutions are co-created.
Dell Technologies has emphasized its commitment to sustainability, ensuring that all its operations prioritize the well-being of the planet. The company aims to leverage the latest cooling technologies and reduce data center costs. By partnering with IMDA and Equinix, Dell aims to develop a solution that supports the Singapore Green Plan 2030 and serves as a benchmark for the rest of the world.
Equinix, with over 25 years of experience in operating digital infrastructure globally, recognizes the role interconnected digital infrastructure and ecosystems play in Singapore’s digital economy. The company is actively working towards advancing sustainability within the industry. Equinix sees its collaboration with IMDA and Dell as a crucial milestone in supporting Singapore’s green agenda, facilitating businesses’ digital transformation journey, and achieving sustainability goals.
Singapore has already taken significant steps towards becoming a hub for digital sustainability. The country launched a standard for optimizing energy efficiency in data centers earlier this year, specifically tailored for tropical climate countries. This new partnership with IMDA, Dell Technologies, and Equinix further reinforces Singapore’s commitment to promoting green ICT practices and driving the development of sustainable digital applications.
By collaborating and prioritizing sustainability in the digital sector, this partnership aims to create a greener and more sustainable future. Together, these organizations will contribute to turning Singapore into a leading hub for sustainable ICT in the region. With their combined expertise, they will pave the way for innovative and environmentally conscious practices in the design, deployment, and maintenance of digital infrastructure.
