IIT Guwahati Joins Forces with Tata Elxsi for EV Technology Development

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati recently concluded a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Elxsi, a leading technology services provider for the Automotive and Transportation sector, in order to collaborate on advancing their expertise on Electric Vehicle (EV) Technologies.

Prof Parameswar K. Iyer, Acting Director of IIT Guwahati, and executive Manoj Raghavan, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Tata Elxsi, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in the presence of Prof Praveen Kumar, Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, IIT Guwahati, Anil Radhakrishnan, Director Products, and Atul Kulkarni, Chief Technical Officer of Tata Elxsi.

This groundbreaking agreement between IIT Guwahati and Tata Elxsi brings together expert personnel and researchers to acquire further research knowledge on Digital Twins, Deep Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning.

With the assistance of this partnership, researchers and experts will be provided with the ability to develop and build advanced solutions specifically tailored to the EV automotive and transportation market. The technology used also ensures that deep insights will be utilized for proactive fault prediction, formulation of maintenance schedules, and for tracing design and manufacturing defects.

Prof Parameswar K. Iyer expressed his pride and satisfaction for their accomplishment, stating that “Electric vehicles have been increasingly garnering attention from the transportation sector, creating the delightful necessity of designing more futuristic solutions for the EV automotive and transportation industry”.

Manoj Raghavan, CEO and MD of Tata Elxsi also expressed his excitement, claiming that “Collaborating with IIT Guwahati forges a powerful tool for both parties to come together and engineer innovative solutions for the ever-evolving EV space”.

The key area within the collaboration is thoroughly analyzing electrical signature data for better traction motor performance, a mission which will cater to the diverse demands of operators, OEMs and system suppliers.
