IIIT Bhubaneswar recently hosted a 3-day National Workshop on Data Science & Machine Learning for Remote Sensing, jointly organized by IEEE GRSS Kolkata Chapter and IEEE AP-S. The workshop commenced on January 23rd, 2024, marking the beginning of an academically enriching event. The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Ashish Ghosh, the Director of IIIT Bhubaneswar, who expressed his delight in inaugurating this intellectually stimulating workshop.
The event was graced by the presence of esteemed guests, including Prof. Pravat Kumar Roul, the Vice-Chancellor of OUAT Bhubaneswar, and Shri. Mohar Manohar Mishra, the Founder Director of Inovaare Solutions Pvt Ltd, who were designated as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively. The inaugural session commenced with a vibrant cultural program presented by the students, setting a spirited tone for the workshop.
Prof. Lipika Das from IIIT skillfully hosted the inaugural session, while Dr. Debadatta Swain, an Associate Professor from IIT Bhubaneswar, delivered a vote of thanks. The rest of the day witnessed enlightening lectures and discussions surrounding various topics related to Remote Sensing, Spatial Data, and Risk Analysis.
Notably, the workshop saw the participation of more than 50 individuals from renowned institutes across the country. Prof. Ashish Ghosh, in addition to his role as the Director of IIIT Bhubaneswar, delivered an insightful talk on ‘Data Science and Big Data Analysis.’ His discussion explored the myriad possibilities that data science offers, both in professional contexts and academic research. The first day of the workshop concluded with ongoing discussions on these topics, fostering connections and collaborations amongst students, researchers, and faculties.
