IBM Chief Warns Employees of Diminished Career Prospects and Promotion Challenges When Working From Home

Date:

CEO of IBM, Arvind Krishna, has expressed concern that employees may struggle to get promotions and see their career progress hindered if they continue to work from home. During a Monday interview with Bloomberg, Krishna urged workers to return to the office, noting that it is necessary to learn key professional skills and experiences in order to progress in their career.

IBM’s Human Resources Chief, Nickle LaMoreaux, also echoed this sentiment and stated in 2121 that the company would be returning to part-time office working post-pandemic. This matters especially for IBM due to its recent decision to slow or suspend hiring for back-office roles to reduce human-to-machine redundancy.

IBM is a global technology company that has existed since 1911 offering comprehensive services and cutting-edge technology to better the lives of its clients and customers. They focus on Artificial Intelligence technology, cloud computing, software and consulting, with a strong aim to tackle data challenges while meeting the demands of modern day demands.

Arvind Krishna was appointed to the role of Chief Executive Officer by the Board of Directors at IBM in 2020. Previously, he had dedicated 38 years of his career to the company; beginning his career as a software engineer and making his way up to the C-Suite. With his expertise and passion for tech, he is leading IBM through the challenges of digital transformation.
