Huawei Unveils 5G Advanced Technology, 10 Times Faster Than Current 5G Services
Huawei, the leading global technology company, has introduced its groundbreaking 5G Advanced (5G-A) technology, which promises download speeds 10 times faster than current 5G services. The announcement was made at the prestigious Global Mobile Broadband Forum (MBBF) held in Dubai, UAE. This new advancement comes at a time when the demand for high-speed connectivity is rapidly increasing due to the rise of emerging technologies such as autonomous driving, 3D and AR/VR, and artificial intelligence applications.
The 5G-A technology, also referred to as 5.5G technology, will provide a lightning-fast download speed of 10 gigabytes per second (Gbps), enabling a hundred-billion Internet of Things (IoT) connections. Additionally, it will incorporate integrated sensing and communication capabilities, as well as native artificial intelligence capabilities. Comparatively, the average download speed of current 5G networks is around 1Gbps, highlighting the significant boost that 5G-A will bring to internet access speeds.
5G-A will build tomorrow’s networks for future services and unleash 5G’s infinite potential for continuous success, said Li Peng, President of Huawei’s Carrier BG (business group). The introduction of 5G-A marks a significant milestone in the evolution of telecommunications technology and is expected to revolutionize various industries by enabling faster and more reliable connectivity for a wide range of applications.
At the MBBF conference, Huawei, in collaboration with Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (EITC), unveiled the world’s first 5G-A demonstration Villa, showcasing a glimpse of the future smart home living experience powered by a blistering 10Gbps network. Both companies have also committed to further exploring 5G-A for technological innovation, application exploration, and ecosystem development.
The demand for artificial intelligence computing is projected to increase a hundredfold by 2025, relying on advanced network capabilities like 5G-A. To meet this growing demand, future networks need to be more autonomous and intelligent, ensuring a seamless and reliable user experience. Huawei aims to facilitate this transition by pioneering the development and deployment of 5G-A technology.
Currently, there are over 260 5G networks worldwide, covering around 50% of the global population, with more than 50,000 5G applications already in existence. The rapid expansion of 5G infrastructure and the introduction of 5G-A technology will further catalyze the growth of these networks, enabling faster and more efficient connectivity across the globe.
In conclusion, Huawei’s unveiling of the groundbreaking 5G Advanced technology, offering speeds 10 times faster than current 5G services, signifies a significant step towards the future of telecommunications. With the surging demand for high-speed connectivity and the advancements in emerging technologies, 5G-A has the potential to revolutionize industries and empower the next generation of applications and services. Huawei continues to lead the way in shaping the future of connectivity, delivering innovation and meeting the evolving needs of customers worldwide.
