Groundlight Announces $10M Seed Round to Help Businesses Utilize Computer Vision Technology

Date:

Groundlight, a Seattle-based artificial intelligence (AI) startup, has emerged from stealth mode today with their computer vision platform and $10 million in seed round funding. The money was raised by venture capital firms led by Madrona, with contributions from Greycroft Partners, Founders Co-op, Flying Fish, AscendVC and EssenceVC.

This platform is meant to help businesses use computer vision and lighten their workflow while doing so. Developers are able to interpret images using simple English language instructions and minimal code. They can then integrate the images in applications such as video stream analysis, industrial automation, process monitoring, retail analytics and robotics. Furthermore, the platform allows developers, even without experience in data science, to rapidly set up AI solutions.

The company calls this workflow its “escalation technology,” which combines traditional deep learning, massive foundation models, edge computing and real-time human supervision. As a result, small and mid-sized manufacturers can swiftly implement machine learning (ML) solutions in order to improve productivity.

Leo Dirac, founder of Austere Manufacturing, praised Groundlight’s API for being able to enable a rapid solution with an over-the-counter camera and simple coding.

Groundlight was founded in 2019 by Leo Dirac, an AI expert formerly at Amazon, and Avi Geiger, who was previously at Microsoft. Their goal was to build a platform that would allow companies to incorporate computer vision in their workflow with ease and efficiency.

The company’s emergence from stealth mode could not have come at a better time as experts predict that computer vision is about to revolutionize various industries. According to a Market Research Future report, the computer vision market is anticipated to reach a staggering $168.8 billion by 2030.

Groundlight is set to expand its availability and introduce other features in the months to come. Meanwhile, an invite-only pilot program is currently underway.

In addition, on July 11-12, numerous executives are invited in San Francisco to witness how leaders are using and optimizing AI investments in order to achieve success.

In conclusion, Groundlight is a computer vision platform allowing developers to interpret images with simple English language instructions and minimal coding. The company has raised $10 million in seed round funding at its emergence from stealth, and will further expand its features in the upcoming months. Its computer vision platform is set to revolutionize various industries and reach $168.8 billion.
