Government of India’s Mission Empowers Recruitment Agencies to Tackle Unemployment Crisis
Recruitment agencies and consultants have been invited by Saksham, a mission initiated by the Government of India, to address the issue of unemployment in the country. These agencies are encouraged to apply and become a Saksham Empanelled Vendor or a Saksham Rojgar Sathi, which will allow them exclusive access to job mandates from companies, an AI-powered technology platform for managing low-income workforce hiring, and the necessary guidelines for growth. The project, led by TIFAC, a government body under the Department of Science and Technology, is currently focused on onboarding agencies from Maharashtra.
Dayal Kalyan Kangne, the Lead Coordinator of the mission in Maharashtra, stated, By providing guidance to recruitment agencies of all levels and empowering them with our intellectual properties and brand value, we are taking a major step towards increasing revenues for these agencies while gradually solving the problem of unemployment.
The mission has already impacted more than 4 million unemployed individuals and aims to empower over 500 million low-income workers in India. Dr. Pradeep Srivastava, Executive Director of TIFAC, emphasized the unorganized nature of India’s blue-collar recruitment industry and the need for technological intervention to bring about positive changes. With this intervention, the aim is to enhance the capabilities of recruitment agencies in serving job seekers and contributing to the reduction of unemployment rates.
There are reportedly over 100,000 recruitment agencies and independent consultants in India, all of which are eligible to apply for this program when it becomes accessible to the rest of the country. As of now, Maharashtra-based agencies have begun applying to become Saksham Rojgar Sathi. The selected consultants will be announced in the near future.
Irrespective of their current strength and turnover, all eligible agencies and consultants are encouraged to apply. Selection will be based on credibility and authenticity, with the intention of making every credible organization a Saksham Rojgar Sathi.
Prashant Nikam, former IRAS officer and Chairman of Sapio Analytics, the nodal agency for Saksham, explained, We are advising companies across India to recruit through credible agencies exclusively, particularly for the low-income workforce. Cases of fraud and incompetence have led to a scarcity of suitable employment opportunities for deserving candidates. Therefore, this movement is critical.
Sapio Analytics collaborates with multiple governments on their livelihood missions and works with organizations to enhance the performance of their low-income workforce. TIFAC, on the other hand, plays a crucial role as India’s apex technology forecasting body, dedicated to utilizing technology to address national challenges.
