Google has released its June feature update, featuring an array of updates to Android and Wear OS. Google Play Books will now include a reading practice feature, available on children’s books, which will help children learn unfamiliar words by listening to them and getting real-time feedback. Three new widgets – Google TV, Google News, and Google Finance – have also been added, as well as a new emoji combination update to Google’s Emoji Kitchen. Wear OS users can now enjoy new features including a Spotify tile and support for transit in Washington, D.C., and San Francisco Bay. Additionally, Google’s One dark web scanning feature has been rolled out in most US Google accounts, with plans to add the feature to more than 20 additional countries in the coming months. Lastly, Google has announced the impending release of Android 14 for smartphones, which will include improved lock screen customization and generative AI support for wallpaper and messaging apps, amongst other behind-the-scenes changes.
