Google Unveils Gemini Intelligent Assistant in Messages and Gmail, Global Rollout Underway

Date:

Google News now features Gemini AI, Google’s latest intelligent digital assistant, gradually making its way into various Google products. Starting with Workspace and YouTube, Gemini has now found its place in Google Messages, allowing users to interact with the assistant within a chat thread.

While the functionality is not yet fully integrated to summarize messages or search within them, users can engage with Gemini by initiating a chat thread, composing messages, brainstorming ideas, planning events, or simply enjoying conversations. The current version supports only English language and operates over the RCS protocol, albeit without end-to-end encryption.

In an interesting development, Gemini is also expected to make an appearance in the mobile version of Gmail for Android users. The new version of Gmail (2024.05.19.635289964) hints at introducing a Gemini button, enabling users to summarize emails, suggest responses, and access previous email content to enhance user experience.

Although the rollout of Gemini in these products is steadily progressing in most countries worldwide, regrettably, the Czech Republic is not yet among the countries receiving this feature. However, with Google’s continuous efforts to expand Gemini’s reach, it is hopeful that users around the globe will soon be able to benefit from interacting with this intelligent digital assistant in their daily communication and productivity tasks.
