Google Takes a Leap Forward with Gemini Chatbot
In a bid to compete with Microsoft’s Bing chatbot, Google has rebranded its ChatGPT-style chatbot as Gemini. The name change from Bard demonstrates Google’s determination to assert its position in the AI race. Gemini will now be prominently featured on Google’s products and will be an integral part of the user experience.
Gemini encompasses a range of capabilities, including answering simple prompts with both text and image generation, all based on data gathered from the internet. The latest addition to the Gemini family is the powerful generative AI model called Gemini Ultra 1.0. This advanced chatbot will be available for $20 a month in 150 countries, but only in English.
Google is also launching standalone apps for Gemini and Gemini Advanced on Android phones, while integration with the Google app on iPhones ensures convenient access for users. However, the availability of these apps in Europe is still uncertain due to regulatory obstacles.
Microsoft, Google’s main competitor, has recently revamped its equivalent chatbot, now known as Copilot. Their comparable advancements in the AI chatbot space indicate the growing importance of these technologies in enhancing online creativity. Notwithstanding some doubts regarding the long-term use cases for generative AI chatbots, both Google and Microsoft emphasize the ability of their products to bolster creativity online.
With Gemini’s rebranding and new offerings, Google aims to solidify its presence in the AI market, going head-to-head with Microsoft. As both companies continue their pursuit of innovation, the world eagerly awaits the potential benefits and advancements that these powerful chatbot technologies may bring.
