Google Bard’s Latest Feature: Generate Custom Images in Seconds

Date:

Google’s AI language model, Bard, has recently introduced a new feature that allows users to generate images for free. This development comes as Bard seeks to compete with other chatbots in the market, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing AI. Initially criticized for its less human-like responses, Google has integrated its AI model, Gemini, to expand Bard’s training beyond text and into video, audio, and now image generation.

When prompted with a description like create an image of a hot air balloon flying over the mountains at sunset, Bard generates visuals to bring the idea to life. However, the process takes approximately 13 seconds, and the accuracy rate is not 100%. Some queries may not generate the requested image, and the images produced may not always be accurate or of high quality.

To ensure safety and privacy, Google includes watermarks in the pixels of generated images and filters out violent, offensive, sexually explicit content, as well as images of named individuals. Users also have the option to report legal issues and rate each image. Google continues to invest in new techniques to improve the protection of its models.

In addition to the image generation tool, Google is expanding the availability of Gemini Pro in Bard to over 40 languages, with the inclusion of a double-check feature that allows users to fact-check Bard’s responses. The expansion aims to make Bard accessible in more than 230 countries and territories.

Overall, Bard’s image generation feature represents a significant step forward in the evolution of chatbots and their ability to provide more human-like responses. While there are still limitations and challenges to overcome, Google’s focus on safety and privacy, as well as its commitment to improvement, shows its determination to stay at the forefront of this evolving field.
