Following reports of ChatGPT experiencing a global outage, users have been left in a state of panic due to the abrupt disruption in service. The popular AI chatbot, developed by OpenAI, went offline at approximately 1:00 PM IST, rendering thousands of users, including paying subscribers, unable to access the platform.
The ChatGPT website is unresponsive to user input, with some individuals even unable to access the site altogether. In addition, the official ChatGPT apps on both Android and iOS platforms are currently down. Downdetector has registered a significant increase in complaints, with over 2500 users reporting issues related to ChatGPT.
OpenAI is actively investigating the cause of the outage and working towards resolving the issue promptly. While other OpenAI services such as APIs, Labs, and Playground remain operational, it appears that the ChatGPT service specifically is facing technical difficulties. The integration of GPT-4o into ChatGPT, offering enhanced translation capabilities and improved response times, may have contributed to the downtime.
As users eagerly await the restoration of ChatGPT services, OpenAI has reassured that efforts are underway to bring the chatbot back online soon. In the meantime, users are advised to remain patient while the technical team addresses the global service disruption.
