In 2020, Google launched an ambitious project, introducing its Machine Learning Bootcamp program in South Korea. The program was created with the mission to make machine learning (ML) more accessible and productive for developers, local startups, and global enterprises alike. Participants had the opportunity to take part in a three-month intensive ML training program, which provided the basics of ML theory and TensorFlow through Coursera’s Deep Learning Specialization as well as Kaggle competitions for practice.
The success of the project was demonstrated by the growing interest from students and developers around the world. Already being in seven high-growth countries and regions like Europe, India, Latin America, Africa, Japan and Turkey, the program received more than 36,000 applications. Following the training program, participants were able to acquire a TensorFlow certificate or Google Cloud ML Engineer certification, and even find future job opportunities with the help of local IT companies.
Google Machine Learning Bootcamp is a great example of how South Korea, a country known for its innovation and growing technological industry, continues to play a role in setting new standards in the way we learn and make use of machine learning. With its worldwide presence, Google continues to provide more opportunities for students and developers to gain new knowledge and skills, helping them become more valuable members of the tech industry.
