The AI Seoul Summit 2024, co-hosted by South Korea and Britain, kicked off on Tuesday in Seoul. The aim of the global summit is to explore the development, deployment, and use of Artificial Intelligence in a safe and sustainable manner.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that the two-day summit follows the inaugural AI Safety Summit held at Bletchley Park in November 2023, focusing on addressing AI-related risks. This year, the AI Seoul Summit will center around three key priorities: AI safety, innovation, and inclusivity.
The first day of the summit included a 90-minute virtual leaders’ session featuring President Yoon Suk Yeol and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. On the second day, digital ministers from participating countries, including Korea’s science minister Lee Jong-ho and the U.K.’s technology secretary Michelle Donelan, will convene in person.
The summit aims to foster discussions on creating regulations that ensure the responsible development and utilization of AI technology, emphasizing safety and inclusivity. With global leaders and experts coming together, the AI Seoul Summit provides a platform to address crucial issues surrounding AI and pave the way for a sustainable future.
