HoYoverse, the developer behind the smash hit Genshin Impact, has recently achieved a new success with its newest game Honkai: Star Rail, which has soared to the top of the download list for Apple’s App Store. After being teased on April 23 and then being available worldwide to the beta version, the game already has high expectations, with more than 30 million pre-download reservations after it was announced.
HoYoverse is also exploring AI tools in order to have better immersive game experience for Honkai: Star Rail. Specifically, the team is testing the incorporation of AI technology into the behavior pattern of NPCs. This is sure to set the game apart and add exciting new elements to the popular Honkai series.
It is not hard to see why the game is already gaining so much attention. Honkai: Star Rail is a space fantasy game which has plenty of fantasy elements intertwined with a sci-fi storyline. Players can take control of up to four characters and form their own team in the wide open world. Apart from this, there are also dungeons to explore and turn-based strategic combats.
The High expectations for Honkai: Star Rail is well deserved, since HoYoverse’s Genshin Impact, an anime-style RPG has been bringing in high revenues for the company. On April 23 the game topped the free download list in Apple’s App Store in more than 113 countries and regions, including the US, Japan and South Korea, according to Chinese media outlet National Business Daily.
Ever since its launch, Genshin Impact has become a huge hit, ranking third on the global list of highest-earning mobile games in March 2020, according to Sensor Tower. About 50.2% of the title’s revenue also comes from the Chinese iOS market, with the Japanese and US markets accounting for 20.2% and 9% respectively.
The company behind these two hits, HoYoverse, is a game-developing company which was first established in 2017. Since then, it has quickly grown in popularity, with Genshin Impact becoming one of the most-played games of the last year. With the release of Honkai: Star Rail, the success of HoYoverse is sure to set new records and expand their lead in the anime RPG genre.
