Generative AI Startup Treat Secures $8.5 Million Investment from Greylock to Create Personalized Product Photos

Date:

Generative AI has revolutionized the way businesses create personalized product photos. Start-up Treat is at the forefront of this movement and has just scored $8.5 million in seed funding from renowned venture capital firm Greylock Partners.

Treat was founded by Matt Osman and Hugh Hunter, who wanted to take advantage of the convergence of Apple’s privacy changes and new generative AI technology. This enabled advertisers to bypass tracking consumers, and instead, create personalized product images with the customer data.

The product photos are tailored to the individual consumer, incorporating elements that have been shown to perform well among certain age groups, genders and target demographics. To accomplish this, Treat leverages a combination of third-party and open source AI models and it’s own proprietary data.

This fundraising round will allow Treat to hire more machine learning, sales, and operations team, allowing them to further expand their range. Moreover, Treat is one of several start-ups tackling the issue of creating branded product photos quickly using generative AI.

Matt Osman, the co-founder of startup Treat, is an industry leader in the use of Generative AI for ecommerce. He believes in balancing personalization for consumers with their privacy and his company, Treat, is working toward achieving that. Before starting Treat, Osman graduated from the University of Oxford and worked for 3 years at Gapo.io, focusing on data-driven marketing strategies. Osman also has 2 years of experience in Investment Banking at JP Morgan.

Hugh Hunter is the co-founder of Treat and a serial entrepreneur. Before Treat, he founded several other companies, including SparkCognition, an AI-focused R&D firm and Vericred, an API-based platform for insurance companies and healthcare organizations. He received his Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
