Recently Igor Babuschkin, Elon Musk’s newly chosen leader for a chat bot stripped of political correctness was arrested for domestic battery in northern California. Records show that the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s office conducted a review of the case and have decided to not pursue any charges.
This arrest could prove to be difficult for Babuschkin to recruit talent for his project, due to its timing and location in Palo Alto, California, where the Silicon Valley is headquartered. Igor had previously worked as an AI researcher at OpenAI and even Alphabet’s DeepMind branch prior to joining Elon Musk’s idea to create an anti-woke version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT, as reported by The Information in February.
The company that Musk is creating is set to compete with artificial intelligence startup OpenAI. Babuschkin has been Musk’s first known hire for this new venture and has the opportunity to create an AI with an impartial approach. It will assist in creating concise decision making in matters and lack the biases often found in AI models.
Igor Babuschkin, a prominent Machine Learning research scientist, has been a prolific contributor to the AI field for years. He has been tweeted about by Elon Musk on multiple occasions and was part of AlphaStar’s team that won the StarCraft II competition. He has contributed to projects like the 2021 European Conference on Computer Vision and was on Applied ML Days 2020. He has even written a book on learning and research. Igor has an MIT Media Lab master’s degree and specializes in AI areas such as natural language processing, computing and robotics.
