Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal has recently launched three centers of excellence in Pakistan, namely the National Center for Manufacturing (NCM), National Center for Quantum Computing (NCQC), and National Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (NCNN). The inauguration ceremony was attended by prominent figures such as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Zahid Akram Durrani, Secretary of the Ministry of Planning Syed Zafar Ali Shah, Vice Chancellors of Universities, and senior officials from various ministries.
During the ceremony, Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasized the significance of investing in emerging technologies to enhance the competitiveness of the country’s youth and effectively tackle future challenges. The establishment of these centers is part of the government’s efforts to boost the economic situation in Pakistan. Secretary of the Ministry of Planning, Syed Zafar Ali Shah, highlighted the positive impact these initiatives have had on the country and assured that the Ministry will continue to support and promote such projects.
Back in 2017, the Ministry of Planning had already launched seven other centers of excellence, including the National Center of Robotics and Automation, National Center of Artificial Intelligence, National Center for Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, National Center for GIS Space Applications, and National Center for Livestock Breeding, Genetics, and Genomics.
These centers of excellence will play a crucial role in driving innovation, research, and development in their respective fields. The National Center for Manufacturing (NCM) aims to enhance the manufacturing capabilities of the country and promote the growth of local industries. The National Center for Quantum Computing (NCQC) will focus on advancing quantum computing technology, which has the potential to revolutionize various sectors. Lastly, the National Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (NCNN) will work towards harnessing the immense potential of nanoscience for practical applications.
The launch of these centers signifies the government’s commitment to fostering a knowledge-based economy and supporting scientific and technological advancements in Pakistan. By investing in these cutting-edge areas, the government aims to empower the youth, create job opportunities, attract foreign investment, and ultimately bolster the country’s socio-economic growth.
The establishment of these centers of excellence is a significant step forward for Pakistan, positioning the nation as a regional hub for research, development, and innovation in manufacturing, quantum computing, and nanotechnology. It demonstrates the government’s determination to stay at the forefront of technological advancements and build a prosperous future for the country.
