Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) showcased the important links between health and environmental sustainability at the Expo 2023 Doha. The LifeHub Pavilion, located in the Innovation Centre of the International Zone at Al Bidda Park, highlighted the potential of innovation, research and development, and artificial intelligence in driving improvements in both human health and environmental sustainability.
The LifeHub Pavilion offered an immersive educational experience in collaboration with the Ministry of Municipality and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. The pavilion attracted esteemed dignitaries such as HE the Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad bin Abdullah al-Attiya and Expo 2023 Doha Secretary-General Mohamed Ali al-Khoori, who participated in an educational tour of the LifeHub.
During the tour, the dignitaries explored the wealth of knowledge available at the pavilion and engaged in discussions about the potential of AI in advancing towards a more sustainable future. HE al-Attiya praised Expo 2023 Doha and WCM-Q for their efforts in raising awareness about climate change and pushing forward the sustainability agenda.
Dr Javaid Sheikh, the dean of WCM-Q, emphasized the inseparable link between health and sustainability. He outlined the institution’s work in supporting efforts to tackle climate change and environmental degradation for the improvement of human health. Dr Sheikh highlighted the importance of conducting cutting-edge research to deliver advanced technological solutions and know-how to overcome shared challenges.
The LifeHub Pavilion featured innovative experiential installations focused on four key dimensions: Climate Change, Sustainability, Nutrition & Wellness, and Science, Technology & AI. Visitors were able to explore pressing concerns such as rising sea levels, global warming, plastic waste, deforestation, and other environmental issues caused by human activity.
The pavilion also showcased ways individuals can reduce their carbon footprint, adopt a healthy and environmentally friendly diet, and utilize AI in various sectors to enhance sustainability efforts and protect natural habitats.
Open to the public until March 28, the LifeHub Pavilion aims to present the technological advancements of AI and its extensive capabilities to visitors. It underscores WCM-Q’s commitment to securing a healthier and more sustainable world for future generations.
