Exploring the World with a Baby: A Family’s AI Chatbot-Planned 6-Month Trip

Date:

Travel influencer couple Michael Motamedi and Vanessa Salas have a mind-boggling task ahead of them – planning a 6-month trip around the world with their 18-month-old daughter. To make this task a bit easier, the family has decided to use an AI chatbot to do the heavy lifting for them. Dubbed as “No Fixed Address,” the family’s journey is in partnership with GuideGeek, a Matador Network owned AI travel assistant that utilizes ChatGPT technology.

GuideGeek takes the reins and plans the families’ itinerary with recommendations like interesting attractions to visit, places to eat and more. Motamedi and Salas are responsible for booking their own flights and accommodations. Every month, the family will use the AI bot to decide their next destination and explore the places based on their interests and preferences.

Sounds a bit daunting? Don’t worry – Motamedi, who has experience with the chatbot, explained how they tested the technology in April to plan a date night in Mexico City. Without a hitch, GuideGeek gave them great speakeasy and drink recommendations and also imparted them with interesting local history facts.

It is important to note, however, that the chatbot is not foolproof. As explained by Motamedi, the AI is known to “hallucinate” or make false information, thus having real-life impacts when relying on the bot to make important decisions. This was experienced firsthand in Mexico when Motamedi asked for the history of pastry shops in the city, which proved to be inaccurate after speaking to a local business owner. Even with the help of an AI, Motamedi and Salas are still firm on exercising their own judgement and fact-checking the results of the robot’s advice.

The AI-powered chatbot, GuideGeek, is owned by the Matador Network. The network is home to travelers, creatives, and entrepreneurs who share a passion for exploring the world. With a focus on adventure-driven media, Matador Network provides their users the digital tools they need to become storytellers and ambassadors of the digital world.

Michael Motamedi is a travel influencer who prioritizes his family’s safety and comfort above taking risks. With the “No Fixed Address” series, Motamedi will capture the experience of living abroad as a digital nomad family and using AI to power their journey. With the help of GuideGeek, the couple can take on the world without compromising their values – something that will likely resonate with many travelers.
