Exploring the Future of Accounting in a Complex Business Environment at Utkal University Seminar

A significant event on the topic of accounting in an increasingly complex business environment was held at Utkal University. Organized by the Department of Commerce, Indian Accounting Association and under the leadership of Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sabita Acharya, the seminar brought together experts from different fields to discuss the future of accounting.

CA Shridhar Patra, the Chief Managing Director at NALCO Limited, delivered a valuable speech on the topic. He explains the nature of Simple and Complex Accounting, and how technology and Artificial Intelligence has changed the way we manage our businesses. Mr. Patra urges everyone to always have an appetite for new knowledge and to never allow Artificial Intelligence to become more intelligent than the ones controlling it.

Prof. Ranjan Kumar Bal, the Vice President of IAA’s Bhubaneswar Branch, shared his deep expertise gained in four decades. He discussed the need to navigate the complexities of the future of accounting as well as the state of virtual decision making in this era of progress. Prof. Ashis Kumar Sana, a faculty from the Department of Commerce at the University of Calcutta also shared his views on the topic.

In addition, the seminar inaugurated a research cell focused on commerce. A total of 86 research papers were presented in the two technical sessions. The valedictory session was held with the Vice Chancellor of Utkal University, Prof. Sabita Acharya, as the chief guest. She emphasized the need for interdisciplinary research and the adaptation of courses to the ever-changing business scenario. Finally, Prof. Prabodh Kumar Hota and Dr. Rabindra Kumar Swain were also present, welcoming and introducing the guest and briefing about the seminar, respectively.
