ChatGPT is an artificial intelligence technology that is being increasingly utilized in the corporate travel world. At the Cvent Travel Summit virtual event this week, a session was held to explore the potential use cases of this technology with Patrick Linnihan, CEO of Gant Travel Management, at the center stage.
According to Linnihan, he implemented ChatGPT in human resources in his company as soon as the technology made its debut and it helped his executive assistant to act as an assistant within a week’s time. He believes that this could potentially lead to businesses add up labour hours to their work, as the cost of using the free version of ChatGPT is incredibly low.
Norman Rose, Phocuswright Senior Technology and Corporate Market Analyst, believes that some users might hold a skeptic view towards this technology and he suggested that this might lead to travel managers and other related businesses from experimenting with the technology. On the other hand, Linnihan believes that the travel industry must deliver experiences that could match the standards of services like Amazon and Netflix in order to survive, and this could be made possible for ChatGPT and other AI technologies.
The discussion also highlighted the ways in which ChatGPT could automate the search and evaluation of bids from suppliers during the booking process. It is likely to introduce questions that are in-line with the goal at the start of the booking. This could result in travel companies maximizing their intermediary revenue and profits.
