Enhancing Search and Discovery Through Glean’s Generative AI Capabilities

Date:

Glean, a company that provides intelligent search and discovery solutions for knowledge workers, has released a suite of new features that use artificial intelligence, intellectual modeling and data governance to improve the accuracy and security of enterprise data and content, increase employee productivity, and enhance collaboration. Through these features, Glean intends to reduce the time and effort it takes knowledge workers to find and utilize the tools and information they need.

AI Answers allows users to create natural language queries and generate concise responses from various sources of content and permissions within an organization. Expert Detection uses Glean’s analysis of content, activity, and relationships to accurately identify and connect users with in-house subject matter experts. And In-context Recommendations can provide users with additional related content and context for assets such as documents and presentations.

The company was founded in 2020 by Arvind Jain, a distinguished Google engineer who led various teams in Search, Maps, and YouTube. Recently, Glean announced a $100 million Series C funding round at a $1B valuation and claims to have more than 70 customers across various industries, including technology, media, education, and healthcare.

In order to make AI successful in the enterprise, Glean placed an emphasis on accuracy, security, and referenceability of its products. The AI system the company created is based on its proprietary knowledge model, which retrains deep learning language models within a company’s unique knowledgebase while applying real-time data permissions and governance rules. Additionally, the model makes sure that users only have access to information they’re allowed to see.

McKinsey & Company’s study estimates that AI can help reduce knowledge workers’ searching and gathering time by35 percent and increase revenue by 6 percent. Glean aims to utilize its features in order to drive those numbers, improving efficiency and productivity with the help of its intelligent search solutions.
