EMOTIV Brings On Machine Learning Experts as Artificial Intelligence Targets Human Brain

EMOTIV, a leader in the bioinformatics field that advances understanding of the human brain, recently appointed two renowned scientists to its executive leadership team. Dr. Gary William Flake was brought on as Chief Technology Officer, and Dr. Scott Rickard as Chief AI Scientist. This new hire is evidence of EMOTIV’s strategic objective to keep up with the advances in artificial intelligence and unlock the full potential of human brain data.

Dr. Flake has extensive R&D background and is a well known scientist. He has filed more than 150 patents and authored numerous publications for topics such as machine learning, data mining, and complex systems. As CTO of EMOTIV, Dr. Flake is responsible for the development of technical strategies and research projects. Dr. Rickard joins the team from financial services company Citadel, where he built and led a data science team responsible for natural language processing and machine learning. At EMOTIV, Dr. Rickard is focused on constructing brain models and directing the AI/ML team.

Dr. Geoff Mackellar, co-founder of EMOTIV, is transitioning to the Chief Science Officer role. He will continue to lead the research and development efforts at EMOTIV with the aim of introducing new and innovative neurotechnology to the neuroscience research community.
