Elon Musk has made headlines yet again with the recent announcement of his AI-powered chatbot, TruthGPT. It is a new development that is aimed to be an alternative to the already existing ChatGPT by many tech giants such as Microsoft and Google. According to GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, the announcement has generated significant buzz among the so-called “Twitter Influencers”. The data shows a sharp increase in conversations in the third week of April, 2023.
Most of the influencers are expressing their hopes that this AI revolution could lead to a better human-centric model of AI, which adhere to ethical considerations and ultimately encourage a more responsible and sustainable future. Social media influencers such as Patrick Henningsen and Ben Goertzel have voiced their approval for Musk’s initiative. Patrick Henningsen, producer from 21st Century Wire Media pointed out that the need of an alternative approach to AI is more pertinent than ever in order to save humanity from destruction. Similarly, Ben Goertzel, co-founder and chief technology officer at OODA, declared that not only TruthGPT, but also something more advanced is needed to comprehend deeper human truths.
Musk had early indicated his intention of creating an AI-synergistic company, by Tweeting in the previous month that “what we need is a TruthGPT”. The company is called X.AI and is based out of Nevada and Texas. Musk himself is the only mentioned director with Jared Birchall, the director of Musk’s family office, acting as the secretary until now. The ambition is to create an AI platform to challenge and compete against ChatGPT as well as other artificial intelligence chatbots.
It remains to be seen how Elon Musk’s project pans out in the near future. His untiring efforts to blend the latest advancements in AI with his own knowledge and experience should be commended. We can all hope that the project leads to achieving a more equitable future, and more important, the safekeeping of humanity.
