The tech industry’s titans have been sparring against larry page and elon musk’s OpenAI, a non-profit company designed to ensure AI safety. As one of the two co-founders, Elon Musk has spoken out about his decision to create OpenAI. He has revealed a disagreement with Larry Page on AI safety and regulation was a major catalyst for the action response.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk disclosed that the conflict began when he stayed over at Larry Page’s house in Palo Alto. He had voiced his concern about AI safety. Musk recalled Page’s belief in a form of “digital superintelligence.” This idea didn’t align with Musk’s vision of AI safety. Page then accused him of being a speciesist, finally triggering Musk’s actions.
Open AI was created in 2015 as the contrast to Google. Musk said he wanted it to be open source, have transparency, and have no connections to Google. He wanted to make OpenAI “the furthest thing from Google.”
Musk is currently working on another AI project called Truth GPT. He explained it as a tool to “understand the nature of the universe”.
