Elon Musk, the tech mogul and CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, has voiced his plans to launch a new online platform for artificial intelligence (AI) called “TruthGPT.” He announced it in an interview with Tucker Carlson of Fox News. This platform will directly compete with Microsoft and Google’s products. Musk has strongly spoken against OpenAI, the organisation responsible for popular chatbot ChatGPT. He claims that the chatbot is “being trained to lie and be politically correct.” Musk is determined to offer an alternative to the machine learning trend in which he stated that the machines being developed “seek the maximum truth and understand human civilization and the world in general.” He is adamant that this mechanism is the safer and unlikely to cause humanity any harm.
Besides the launch of TruthGPT and voicing his issues with OpenAI, Musk had a few things to say about Google co-founder Larry Page. In the interview with Carlson, he commented on Page not taking AI safety seriously. The introduction of TruthGPT, he believes, will be the “best path to safety.”
Musk formed X.AI Corp, a company which was established and incorporated in Nevada last month. Jared Birchall as the managing director of his family office, serves as the secretary and Musk, of course, is the only director of the firm. In an attempt to prevent any damage from the advancement of AI tools, Musk has gone as far as proposing a 6-month moratorium for creating systems that are more potent than OpenAI’s recently released GPT-4.
He made an appearance on Twitter to mention that he had a discussion with former US President Barack Obama and advised him that Washington should “encourage AI regulation” when in office. Last year, he purchased Twitter, the enormous social media, for a whopping $44 billion given that it was forming a Left-liberal propaganda machine.
In 2015, Musk co-founded OpenAI but two years later, he moved out of the organisation’s board of directors in order to focus on his other companies such as Tesla and SpaceX. On top of these companies, he is also in control of Twitter currently. To conclude, the tech mogul confirmed that the last purchase he made values at less than half of the acquisition cost.
Overall, Musk has brought several issues to light which surround the rapidly growing AI tools. He has gone as far as launching his own platform for the same issue and for this reason, we shall be looking to further scrutinise the advancements made by his TruthGPT platform in the future.
