OpenAI, co-founded by Elon Musk in 2015, recently integrated Microsoft Bing into its chatGPT service. With this integration, users of chatGPT Plus and free chatGPT will get access to more up-to-date and relevant answers, as well as a seamless search experience. After hearing about the new feature, Musk took to Twitter to call it “interesting”.
Microsoft is one of the world’s leading tech companies and is well known for its Windows operating system, Office suite of productivity applications, as well as its Azure cloud platform. The company recently held its Build conference in Seattle, where CEO Satya Nadella revealed plans to extend Bing to chatGPT users and improve the overall chatbot experience.
Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s consumer marketing chief, discussed the significance of this integration in a blog post. He said it would provide users with an even better search experience, enabling them to look up information quickly and cite sources directly within chatGPT. This functionality will be especially useful for discussing current events.
When Microsoft first announced the integration, Elon Musk kept an eye on it closely. He tweeted, “Interesting” in response to the news, showing his enthusiasm for the new feature.
The integration of Microsoft Bing into OpenAI’s chatGPT could give the search engine a much-needed boost to gain market share from Alphabet Inc.’s GOOG GOOGL Google Search. The move will also help OpenAI’s chatGPT service discuss current events more effectively. It will provide users with more relevant, up-to-date answers – a feature much criticized since chatGPT’s initial launch in November of last year.
It’s worth noting that Nadella disagreed with Musk’s beliefs that Microsoft had control over OpenAI when the partnership was first announced.
