Elon Musk seems to be a popular subject for AI-generated images on Twitter and one recent photo of the billionaire as a child has gone viral with over 4.5 million views. The image shows a young Musk in a white collared shirt and brown overalls, with his familiar tuft of brown hair. A parody account jokingly captioned the fake image, suggesting that Musk had created an anti-aging formula that got out of hand. Musk, who often engages with commenters on the platform, replied with humor: Guys, I think I maybe took too much. It is unclear where the image originated from but AI-generated pictures have been flooding Twitter recently.
Fake images of other public figures have also caused confusion, with some believing them to be real. AI expert Henry Ajder has warned that these kinds of images slowly erode our trust in visual media and make it harder to discern the truth. Despite this, Musk seems to take AI-generated pictures in good humor and has even responded positively to an image of himself in traditional Indian wedding attire created on an AI platform. Twitter users should be wary of these fake images, however, as they may impact the accuracy of information in the platform.
