Tech billionaire Elon Musk recently revealed plans to develop an artificial intelligence rival to the Microsoft-supported ChatGPT. His project, called TruthGPT, promises to be a far safer alternative to traditional AI creation and development. According to an interview he held with Fox news this week, AI “has the potential of civilizational destruction” and he wishes his project to be a maximum truth-seeking AI which will try to understand the nature of the universe.
Before he left the OpenAI board in 2018, Elon had initially founding and funded it, hoping it would be a counterweight to Google. Now, however, the organisation has close ties with Microsoft and it is not clear if the results from ChatGPT will ultimately be beneficial. In addition to this, Elon Musk has labelled the AI as being “politically correct,” suggesting that it won’t always provide truthful information.
OpenAI is currently the leader in the global artificial intelligence race and is a non-profit research and technology organisation founded by Elon Musk and other trusted investors.
