Elon Musk wants to enter the AI race between Microsoft-backed OpenAI and Alphabet’s Google and DeepMind by creating his own third-party. This news was confirmed in an interview with American television host, Tucker Carlson on Monday. Musk believes OpenAI and Google are the two heavyweights of the moment, and that his contribution would be a welcomed third option. Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of trying to understand and uncover the ‘nature of the universe’ – emphasizing that his AI project would strive for truth above politically correct dialect.
X.AI is the company at the forefront of Musk’s AI aspirations. He also wants to create a ‘everything app’ named X which could prove instrumental to the success of the AI project. Interestingly, he also merged all his Twitter accounts into XCorp. Recently Musk downvalued Twitter, the social media platform he took private in a $44 billion deal last year – offering employees new equity grants valuing the company at $20bn instead.
