Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and most recently Twitter, believes he has found a way to make artificial intelligence (AI) safer for the human race. In a recent interview with Tucker Carlson, he stated that he is planning to launch a rival project to Microsoft-backed ChatGPT. Named ‘TruthGPT,’ this AI aims to understand the universe and meaning of truths. By doing this, Musk is trying to find the safest way to use AI without the risk of it annihilating the human race.
Furthermore, during his interview, Musk mentioned his conversation with former US president Barack Obama where he suggested creating regulations regarding the usage of AI, something Obama had previously neglected. This highlights Elon’s personal goal to ensure safety with the rapidly growing technology.
In addition to creating his own AI, Elon Musk previously co-founded OpenAI in 2015, although he left the company and stepped down from the board in 2018. His decision to move away from OpenAI was because he needed to focus on Tesla and SpaceX, as well as other issues he disagreed with the OpenAI team about.
With the increasing rate of technology and artificial intelligence, it is important to regulate its use in order to guarantee its safety and reduce the risk of any potentially catastrophic events. chatGPT is a Microsoft-backed AI chatbot project, and the newly proposed TruthGPT created by Elon Musk is designed to seek truth in the universe and would act as a more reliable source of AI safety.
