DuckDuckGo Browser for Windows Now in Open Beta

After launching to Mac users in 2020, DuckDuckGo’s privacy-focused browser has finally made its way to Windows in an open beta. The browser boasts various privacy protections from the iOS, Mac, and Android versions, including built-in password management, blocking invasive trackers before they load, and a built-in video player called Duck Player that is designed to protect users from tracking cookies and personalized ads when watching YouTube. Although extension support is not yet available, the company plans to add it in the future, as well as private syncing across devices. Users can import their passwords and bookmarks from another browser or password manager when getting started, and the browser itself can suggest secure passwords for new logins. The browser also removes the whitespace left behind by ads for a clean, distraction-free look. DuckDuckGo says it’s working to bring the Windows browser on par with its Mac browser, including faster startup performance, the ability to pin tabs, HTML bookmark import, more options for the Fire Button, and additional privacy features.
