Dubai Future Foundation Launches Dubai Generative AI Alliance to Accelerate Tech-Enabled Government
The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has recently made a significant move in the world of artificial intelligence (AI) by launching the Dubai Generative AI Alliance. This alliance aims to accelerate the adoption of emerging technologies and build one of the world’s most advanced and effective tech-enabled governments. The announcement was made during a high-profile assembly attended by more than 2000 participants, including big tech companies like Microsoft, Deloitte, PwC, and IBM.
Khalfan Belhoul, the CEO of DFF, emphasized the importance of governing the use cases of AI rather than the technology itself, stating that the current global discussion on AI governance is a non-starter. With this mindset, the Dubai Generative AI Alliance will focus on developing innovative technology pilots by leveraging AI, the metaverse, and Web3.
As part of their efforts, the Dubai government unveiled the ‘Dubai AI’, a generative AI-powered digital city concierge. This city-wide digital platform will provide comprehensive information and services covering health, business, and education to residents and visitors. The goal is to transform government services and enhance the overall experience for individuals in Dubai.
During the assembly, experts from international tech corporations and consultancies discussed the potential impact of generative AI. PwC highlighted that automation in the workplace is imminent, with generative AI expected to autonomously execute everyday tasks on a large scale within the next 18-20 months. They also projected that the global banking sector could benefit by as much as USD 400 billion from the boom in generative AI.
Deloitte’s leading digital expert outlined how generative AI can benefit various sectors, including nuclear fusion, climate action, and drug discovery. They also noted that the industrial and pharmaceutical sectors are among the quickest to adapt to this emerging technology.
Furthermore, Emirates’ Chief Operating Officer, Adel Al Redha, shared plans to empower cabin crew members with generative AI training, starting from November. This move aims to enhance operational efficiency and provide better customer service.
The launch of the Dubai Generative AI Alliance and the groundbreaking initiatives discussed during the assembly highlight the UAE’s commitment to becoming a global leader in the adoption and utilization of AI technologies. By leveraging the power of generative AI, Dubai aims to create a future-ready government that effectively serves its population and drives innovation across sectors.
In conclusion, the Dubai Future Foundation’s launch of the Dubai Generative AI Alliance and the unveiling of ‘Dubai AI’ mark significant milestones in the journey towards a tech-enabled government. These initiatives demonstrate Dubai’s determination to harness the potential of emerging technologies and leverage AI for the benefit of its residents and visitors. As the city continues to push the boundaries of innovation, it is poised to become a global leader in the AI landscape.
