Discovering What’s Inside the Box? – Exploring Generative AI

Date:

Box, a cloud-based document sharing technology, has made a significant advancement by introducing Box AI, a set of generative AI capabilities that enable organizations to process and create content more efficiently. This new AI integration is powered by OpenAI’s large language model (LLM) services, with plans to add additional LLM providers over time. This advancement comes after previous AI integrations, such as an image recognition partnership with Google in 2017 and deep-learning malware detection in 2021.

Box’s CEO and co-founder Aaron Levie explained that this new platform lets users use AI interact with content and gain insight from it in new ways. Box AI can source any type of document, such as a budget document to search for ways to increase productivity or a legal contract to find the riskiest clauses. It is also integrated with the online collaborative workspace, Box Notes, that allows users to automatically generate content like a meeting agenda or blog post.

Moreover, other enterprise software vendors have also been incorporating generative AI lately, such as Salesforce’s Einstein GPT and Microsoft’s ‘copilot’ capabilities. This widespread usage is due to OpenAI’s ChatGPT which quickly rose through the limelight when it was released in 2022.

This move shows how AI is transforming the enterprise software industry, with Levie expecting in the future for these kinds of AI capabilities to become standard in the software offerings. AI technology is giving users the chance to access knowledge, analyze data and save time, which all points to a smarter and more efficient enterprise.

Box is an enterprise software company that provides cloud content management and file sharing solutions to businesses of any size. Founded in 2005 by Aaron Levie and Dylan Smith, the platform has evolved significantly over the years and is now a comprehensive enterprise content cloud. In addition to its AI integrations, Box also offers powerful security features, collaboration tools, and analytics solutions.
