Digital Transformation for Manufacturers – Data & AI Powered Lakehouse Platform by Databricks

Date:

Databricks, a renowned data lakehouse technology firm, recently launched a new platform designed to leverage data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the manufacturing industry. The Lakehouse for Manufacturing platform integrates with the company’s core data lakehouse platform with the aid of Delta Lake, Apache Spark and MLFlow open-source projects. The platform also includes Model Serving, a service that simplifies the management of ML models in production.

The new solution allows manufacturers to unify data from numerous sources and use cases, tackling challenges such as predictive maintenance, quality control and supply chain optimization. It is available to customers worldwide along with use case accelerators, offering guidance and best practices for various issues. Additionally, a Brickbuilder Solutions program provides customized lakehouse solutions for superior efficiency and cost savings.

Leading companies, such as DuPont, Honeywell, Rolls-Royce, and Shell have already adopted the platform. Shell has reportedly achieved considerable annual savings through improved inventory simulations while Rolls-Royce has seen efficient stock turns and reductions in lead times for spare parts replacements.

Global manufacturing industry leader at Databricks, Shiv Trisal, said of the platform “The lakehouse architecture enables organizations to leverage all of their data in one place to perform AI at scale while also reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO).” Furthermore, he mentioned, “By unifying all data types, sources, frequencies, and workloads on a single platform, Databricks enables organizations to unlock the full value of their existing investments and achieve AI at scale.”

To learn more about Lakehouse for Manufacturing, Databricks has invited top executives from all over the world to attend an event in San Francisco on July 11-12. Those who attend may hear from leaders on how to best integrate and optimize investments for AI success.
